Educating Parents

IEP Prep Online, LLC is here to educate and empower parents throughout the entire IEP process, from start to finish.  It is designed to show parents how we help prepare for IEPs (and it is not just the night before but often months before) and how we approach different issues that arise during the IEP process.

Online Content

For our subscription members, we have informational articles on strategies we employ during the IEP process and sample cases highlighting how other parents have handled common IEP issues.  In addition, we have helpful progress monitoring charts, checklists, and guides.  In this regard, we created IEP meeting checklists and detailed IEP meeting preparation guides specific to the various IEP meeting types, such as The Initial IEP Eligibility Meeting Checklist & Guide, The Annual IEP Meeting Checklist & Guide, and The Triennial IEP Meeting Checklist & Guide.  We also offer weekly online forum discussions, where we seek to support our members in the IEP process by offering encouragement and answering related questions.  We know that no one will advocate for a child like a parent and so our goal is to give each of our parents the knowledge and information needed to be a successful advocate for their child.

Private Consultations

We are available for private consultations at an hourly rate for both members and non-members. Private consultations are available for a myriad of issues, including but not limited to assistance in requesting an IEP, preparing for an IEP meeting in general, helping to figure out a student's educational needs, investigating why a student is not making progress, developing a strategy to achieve a parent's specific objective (such as a change in service or placement), understanding whether a student’s progress was appropriate, creating a progress monitoring plan, and identifying appropriate areas for IEP goals and goals themselves.  Sometimes parents simply get stuck or overwhelmed somewhere in the IEP or 504 process and we are more than happy to consult with them to create a plan of action for moving forward in the process.

Enabling Parents To Be Effective Advocates

We want our parents to walk into every IEP meeting with confidence and understanding about the topics being discussed and with a plan for addressing the related needs of their child as it can be life changing for both the child and the parent.  We have seen too many parents trust a district to remediate a child without holding them accountable, only to realize many years later that the district was not helping the child to close the gap with his peers and/or that the district was not properly addressing all of the student's educational needs.  Likewise, we have seen too many parents without any understanding of their children’s IEP goals and services.  We want to change this for our parents and raise their expectations for their children.  We want them to know what their child needs to close the gap with their peers and how to become effective advocates and meaningful participants at the IEP meeting to ensure appropriate progress for their children.
